Coaching for Leadership Enhancement
Visionary leaders live their work lives with intensity, passion, high expectations, and attention to detail. But sometimes those very qualities need recalibration at higher rungs of the career ladder, where leaders may need to develop new approaches to communication and team development.
To ensure that talented leaders continue to achieve, why not help them adapt their behavior in ways that promote maximum effectiveness? Dr. Judith Klimoff’s coaching for leadership enhancement aims to do just that, providing confidential, one-on-one programs tailored to the needs of executives at every level.
Goal: Judith helps clients fine-tune their workplace behavior in order to reach their full professional potential.
Process: Although every program is tailored to the client’s specific needs, it will usually include the following steps:
- Preliminary planning: Judith and the client agree on the goals of the program and decide how to measure success in meeting those goals.
- Initial assessment: Through psychometric testing and a detailed, one-on-one interview, Judith gathers information about the client’s career history, interpersonal style, leadership competencies and professional interests, seeking the common themes running through a life’s work. This step sometimes involves interviews with the client’s superiors, colleagues and subordinates.
- Feedback: Judith and the client review the findings of the initial assessment, outlining key strengths and areas where growth is desirable. This step may include consideration of how achieving an appropriate work-life balance can enhance the client’s professional effectiveness.
- Plan of action: Judith and the client develop concrete goals and outline specific, individually tailored behavioral strategies for achieving those goals.
- Coaching: As the client begins to implement the new strategies in the workplace, Judith offers support, encourages reflection on the real-world situations the client encounters each day, and helps come up with solutions to leadership challenges.
- Final assessment: Judith and the client discuss gains made and strategies for ensuring future career growth. This step may involve checking in with the client’s superiors, colleagues and subordinates to discover how much change they have perceived, or talking with human resources professionals about their assessment of progress.
Time frame: Six to eight months — but clients often notice results far sooner.
